I’m Elia, founder of Once Upon A Tile. I grew up in a picturesque small town in Italy, where I learned the craft of tiling from my father from a young age. Under his guidance, I developed a deep respect for true workmanship and an unwavering attention to detail, values that continue to shape everything I do today.
In 2013, I made the bold move to Australia to bring my skills and passion to a new home. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of Melbourne’s most respected renovation companies and designers, helping transform ideas into beautifully finished spaces through precision, creativity, and care.
What I love most about tiling is that moment when a project comes together perfectly, when every line is clean, every tile sits exactly as it should, and the final result exceeds expectations. Whether it’s a bathroom renovation or a kitchen upgrade, I put my heart into every detail to ensure the work elevates both the beauty and functionality of the space.
I was honored to be nominated among the Top 10 Tilers of the Year in Australia (2020), and I’m proud that Once Upon A Tile was named Tiling Contractor of the Year at the Prestige Awards 2025 in Australia, a recognition that reinforces our commitment to delivering consistently exceptional results.
Beyond the work itself, I believe a business should contribute to something bigger. Since 2023, Once Upon A Tile has been supporting the education of 100 students in Cambodia, a cause that’s close to my heart and one I’m grateful to be able to stand behind.
Above all, my greatest reward is a happy client and a finished space that feels right, built to last, and crafted with pride.
